Protestant...  Paladin...  Pirate...

Jean Sabourin is a Huguenot Healer who fought in the Thirty Years War to defend the Faith and the Faithful.  He was captured and condemned to serve as a galley slave after refusing to renounce his faith.  Eventually, his ship was in turn captured by pirates.  He was able to persuade them to allow him to demonstrate his healing skills, and thereby to be recruited rather than slain.  He strives to minister to the physical and spiritual needs around him, and to rescue any that he is able.  Driven by his own experiences, he has a particular desire to help free slaves.
