THE PROTEGE
LOOK
Woman, white, lean body, punk clothes, mentor’s garb

ABILITIES
You are someone’s protégé. Your powers largely mimic theirs, but each of you is in some way unique. Pick one ability you both share and one ability for each of you that is uniquely yours.

SHARED ABILITY: Symbiote physique
YOUR OWN ABILITY: Stealth
YOUR MENTOR’S ABILITY: Weapons and gadgets

The Mania symbiote provides the ability to shape itself into clothing, armor, and weaponry for Andi, as well as providing her with full awareness of her surroundings and a healing factor. As it's descended from Venom, it has Venom's mimicry of Spider-Man's powers, including superhuman strength and agility, along with his ability to adhere to surfaces. It can also shoot webbing and bypass Spider-Man's Spider-Sense (but not the super senses of other spider-heroes).

MENTOR
You have a mentor, someone who’s taught you, trained you, given you aid, or raised you up. Someone who might have confined you a bit too rigidly to a single path. Which Label do they embody, and which do they deny?

EMBODIES Danger
DENIES Freak

LABELS
Danger -1
Freak +1
Savior +1
Superior +2
Mundane 0

CONDITIONS
[_] Afraid (-2 to directly engage a threat)
[_] Angry (-2 to comfort or support or pierce the mask)
[_] Guilty (-2 to provoke someone or assess the situation)
[_] Hopeless (-2 to unleash your powers)
[_] Insecure (-2 to defend someone or reject others’ influence)

PROTEGE MOVES
[X] Venting frustration: When you directly engage while you are Angry, you can roll + the Label your mentor denies and clear Angry.

[X] Fireside chat: When you seek advice from your mentor, roll + the Label they embody. On a hit they will tell you what to do. On a 10+, mark potential if you follow their advice, and take +1 ongoing to follow through. On a 7-9, you get +1 forward to see it through if you do it their way. On a miss, they don’t have time for you because something big has gone down; mark a condition, GM’s choice.

[X] Be mindful of your surroundings: When you assess the situation before entering into a fight, you may ask one additional question, even on a miss.

MENTOR’S RESOURCES
Choose up to three resources that your mentor gave you and the team:
Communicators, surveillance equipment, badges of authority

BACKSTORY
How did you first meet your mentor?
Flash, Mr. Thompson, whatever, he was my gym teacher. It was weird, he actually seemed to care when I skipped class. Not in a yelling at me and telling me what to do kinda way, but, like, he asked me about it. He wasn’t very careful with his secret identity, and I ended up being the only person who saw him use crazy stretchy black goo powers one time after class. I figured out the guy was Venom and kept a closer eye on him.

When and why did you choose to train with them?
A crime boss put a bounty on Venom’s head. A supervillain knew who Venom was, and came after me and my dad to bait Flash. Venom showed up. It was too late for dad, but he encased me in a part of his symbiote to save me from poison gas. It bonded to me instead of just acting as a shield, and now I have my own symbiote. It’s young and dangerous and we mess with each other’s heads. You know when you get something complicated, and can’t turn it off, and you just need to know how to control it to make things easier? Yeah, I needed Flash. He’s been this and can keep me from losing my mind.

Why did they agree to train you?
Because he’s a decent guy. His battles got my dad killed and me with a vicious monster connected to me, so he decided I was his responsibility. Also because I nearly killed Jack O’Lantern during the fight, and Flash wants to keep me from doing the killing thing. Unfair, but I guess I get it.

Who else, outside of the team, knows about your training?
My Aunt Sarah. She doesn’t like it, but she knows that I can’t just get rid of the symbiote and learning how to live with it is better than letting it get me killed. Jack O’Lantern saw it happen, so he knows. I’ll bet he reported to that crime boss, Lord Ogre, too.

Why do you care about the team?
We’re all freaks. We’re weirdos. We’re just better than other people, and that means we’re constantly targets for the worst possible things, and that we can’t let ourselves get too close to them because they’ll be in danger and it’ll be our fault. What? Why are you asking about Flash again? This has nothing to do with him, I was just saying.

WHEN OUR TEAM FIRST CAME TOGETHER...
We stuck together after all was said and done. Why? How’d we keep in contact?

RELATIONSHIPS
You and She-Hulk teamed up a few times before the rest of you came together.
Your mentor is cautious; they asked you to keep an eye on Gateway.

MOMENT OF TRUTH
The moment that you show who you really are: your mentor, or something different. You can do whatever your mentor could do and more. You can do the incredible, even the things they always failed to accomplish. Of course, they’re not going to see you the same way, no matter which path you choose…

TEAM MOVES
When you share a triumphant celebration with someone, ask them if you’ve been a good leader or effective teammate. If they say yes, your mentor loses Influence over you and you mark potential. If they say no, your mentor gains Influence over you, and you take +1 forward on using the Label your mentor embodies.

When you share a vulnerability or weakness with someone, tell them a secret about your mentor (including your feelings towards them). Give them Influence over you and add 1 Team to the pool.
