Edmond has always been drawn to fantasy.   In school, he read all the fantasy novels in the library: usually instead of, and always, when the other kids were outdoors playing.   He studied History and Creative writing in college, and played a lot of roleplaying games like DnD and Godbound.
And in his spare time, he collected what 'esoteric' tomes he could from disreputable and disrepaired bookshops, and studied them closely for occult secrets that 'were hidden within the text'.

Before the Words of Magic found him, Edmond worked at various bookshops, and as a Librarian at the local municipal library.  He worked hard, for he really does love books of all kinds.   But in his spare time, he was devoted to studying whatever arcana he could ... be it in books, on the internet, or seeking our 'wisdom' from those who proposed to have such.
In truth, in a world without magic, Edmond was as close as one could come to being an expert on the matter.  He knew the mythologies, he knew the theories (colours of magic, the gods of magic, the ancient beliefs).
And his 34th level Wizard on AdventureNett was one of the best power gamed characters on the server.


And so it was that when the Celestial shards sought like-souls within the world, the Words of Magic and Knowledge landed squarely within Edmond.
Now, somehow, Edmond does not only have access to Magic in the world ... he is something of a gateway through which that ancient mysteria flows into the world.


Edmond usually wears regular person clothing, but given the opportunity, he'll happily slip into his 'Mage Robes' ... which he wears to all the Fantasy Conventions.   Actually, on a cosplay level, the outfit is really very detailed and impressive.
However, when he enacts is Regalia Armour, these mundane robes become truly magical in nature: expanding and flowing out into Resplendant Wizard’s Robes, embroidered with symbols of arcane and flame.
Occasionally, small flickering of flame dance around the folds and hem.


Edmond has a Miniature Red Dragon named Scarlette as a Familiar.
She usually that sits on Edmond's shoulder (her tail curled around his throat).
Scarlette tends not to like others coming to close to it's master, and hisses threateningly unless Edmond denies it the right.
As a Red Dragon, as per the DnD Monsters Compendium: Scarlette can breath a Fiery Breath Weapon with unerring precision.
When Scarlette gives chase few can outrun her.


When the game starts, Edmond still lives in the basement of his parents home.  He is a single middle aged nerd!
