Background:
Kaeya grew up on her parent's cargo ship, The Weeping Somnambulist and up until recently has spent her entire life going back and forth from ‘Ganymede to Ceres’ delivering food. But once or twice a year the vessel would travel to Eros. This kind of life has taught her a lot about ship life, enough that if she wants to be a crewperson on a ship, she'd better get some formal training. With her parents limited income, Kaeya is attending The University of Eros and hasn't quite decided to be a pilot/navigator, or pilot/engineer yet. To make ends meet and have a little extra script in her pocket, Kaeya is one of two in home care givers for an elderly Martian lady with Alzheimer's, Ms. Hirotsugu.

As helpful as the extra script was it wasn't enough to pay for her studies, that's the excuse she told herself when she got involved with the slingshot club, the most she had ever done was a two stage sling, the pay was big, the bookie giving her a sizeable 'prize winnings' in truth what happened on Eros as traumatic as it had been including the loss of people she cared about, it probably saved her life when they fled, as she had just promised to take on a four stage slingshot run for a massive payout, if she survived, she had checked the odds, it wasn't likely.

As good as the slingshot was for practicing maneuvers and learning to handle higher an higher G's so she could one day become an Ace Pilot, it was too addictive, she wasn't sure if she was hooked on the juice hits, the slingshot G's or the big script wins every time she survived, truth be told it was probably rooted in her ambition, her obsession with getting recognized as a pilot worth remembering, each win building rep. in certain circles at least.
