Emily Goldman-Vaughn

Dr. Emily Goldman-Vaughn is the sort of person that gets written about in the New Yorker. An accomplished neuro-surgeon, her medical practice is almost entirely pro-bono at this point. Her income- which is significant- is generated largely from consulting work and publishing. The good doctor has written several books on the implications of discoveries in neurology and their philosophical implications, relying on her philosophy PhD. These profiles are most usually set in her luxurious Philidelphia brownstone, with its vast interiors and post-modern artistic touches. Many also make note of Dr. Goldman-Vaugh's wife, Isabelle. Sometimes to point out that the decor is Isabelle's choice. More often, it highlights her mysterious, fascinating accent. Rarely, the author mentions that Isabelle is quick-witted and as well-read as her wife. Never do they fail to mention her brief career as a model or her dark skin as snuggles up to the doctor's side.
