Background: N'Var Havas grew up on Londres Nova the largest city of the Martian Congressional Republic to a mother of Hindu descent, and a father of Hispanic/Caucasian mix. While his mother spoke with the Texas drawl his father spoke a more properly accented English closer to American English and this is what he grew up speaking as an adult. Still he sometimes drops in a Texan drawl every now and then.

As a mid-teen N’Var, like all Martian children took several placements tests. While he did not place well on the sciences, he did test well in the realm of technology. Thus after completing secondary school, he joined the MCRN and due to his technical aptitude was fast tracked into the officer corps where he became a Navigator/EWAR Officer.

N'Var Havas was first assigned to the MCRN Hammurabi (EML-05) a Scirocco-class assault cruiser, as a damage control officer and secondary job as a sensor/EWAR operator. He was then assigned to the MCRN Mangalore (ECS-242), as the Operations Officer and later the MCRN Urumchi (ECS-215), as the Executive Officer, both Morrigan-class patrol destroyers.

After spending ten years in the MCRN, N'Var Havas resigned due to the fact that he was not a Academy trianed officer and would nevr advance beyond being the Captain of a medium sized ship such as a Morrigan-class patrol destroyer. He then went to work for Mao-Kwikowski Mercantile as a navigator on a number of vessels, with the Deja Thoris being his latest assignment.
