Imani King

Name: Imani King
Age: 29
Occupation: Attorney for the Manhattan District Attorney's Office
Sexual Orientation: Straight

Appearance
Imani is of Afro-Asian descent, with lines that can be traced back to Africa, the Caribbean, and China. It gives her a very exotic look, but the features come together well and she is generally considered pretty. Her black hair is naturally straight and her eyes are a jade green. She stands a little above average in height, around 5'8", and has a toned hourglass figure.

Kinks/Style
Imani is a switch, enjoying both dominating and being dominated. She also sees little reason sex should be kept to the shadows, finding pleasure in both watching and being watched (though because of her occupation she has a strict no recording rule). Finally, she has little interest in monogamy though recognizes the political value of having a husband. She might pick one up someday.

Personality
Like most people, Imani has her masks. But the one emotion she can't have is anger. Being a lawyer has more in common with being an actor than most people think. The judge and jury are people, and "the facts" aren't always good enough. If she took even a touch of her anger into the court room she would come across as hysterical and frightening. If she took it with her into the office there would we whispers behind her back. She needs everyone to think she is in control and that she is their friend, or she'll never be able to accomplish her goals. She's fine tuned the persona to such a degree that she rarely needs to confront the people around her that fail to meet her expectations. She simply makes them feel guilty about the failure. Not just guilty that they failed her but guilty that they failed whomever it was she was trying to protect.

Unfortunately, Imani is not particularly adept at dealing with her anger in her private life either. She has no tolerance for degradation, humiliation, or pain in her sex life. Instead her anger serves as a sort of fuel, driving her forward, as if there was some kind of goal she could achieve that would just make the anger melt away. Whether she figures out that will never happen or loses control first is an open question. She's not just burning the candle on both ends, she's doused it with gasoline and lit the whole candle aflame.

Interests/Hobbies
Carrying life lessons learned from the Air Force, Imani always makes time for health and fitness, with a preference for organized sports rather than solo exercise. She likes the added connection and chaos introduced by partners and opponents that do their own thing. Racquetball and basketball in particular call to her. She also has a soft spot for alt-history novels. She's fascinated by the idea that there are turning points in history and one small change can have a huge impact on life across the globe. She's also an active member of the poly community and a known solo polyamorist.

History
Imani was born and raised in The Bronx. Her childhood was not a kind one, but she used that struggle to motivate her, focusing on her education as the route to freedom and happiness. She failed. What Imani didn't understand at the time was that the system was rigged and sometimes hard work isn't enough. Sometimes the mountain can't be climbed. At least she graduated.

With her home life disintegrating and her choices limited she enrolled in the Air Force. But where her schooling failed her, the military saved her. She enlisted as a paralegal, working in the JAG program, and was deployed to Japan. Now that she was working within a system designed for her success her efforts began to pay off. She learned about the legal system, became fluent in Japanese, and started attending online courses offered by the City University of New York. Five years later she had a bachelor's degree, a 100% GI Bill, and a path forward. Upon returning to America she applied for and was accepted into the University of Virginia School of Law. She graduated within 3 years and had passed the New York state bar examine 6 months later.

Armed with her newly acquired credentials she immediately applied to join the Manhattan District Attorney's Office. Her childhood had been taken from her; lost a hundred years ago to policies that put weights around the ankles of generations of children. But as part of the DA's office she could fight to fix that. And from there she could try to become a judge, or maybe a politician. She knew she couldn't fix the problem alone, but people like her needed to come together to be part of the solution if it was ever going to happen.

Imani has worked for the DA's office for close to 3 years now and has developed a bit of a reputation. She's unwavering in her principles and unwilling to go quietly into the night. She takes every assignment given to her seriously, but when the case aligns with her moral convictions she becomes ruthless in her efforts. It's a trait that has not endeared her to the private law firms in the city... unless they think they can recruit her away.
