Appearance: With a Japanese father and an American mother Maki has an exotic but beautiful look. She has a good and athletic figure, and she can be cute (if she has to) or sexy, depending on what she wants to achieve. Her long black hair is usually a mess, unless she needs it not to be. When she has a bad hair day, she just ties it up in a ponytail, but on normal days she wears it open. Her nose is very slightly crooked, and one has to look at her at the right angle to notice it. She also has a couple of smaller tattoos, the one most people get to see at some point is on her left upper arm, it's a butterfly.

On the left you can see the current outfit she is wearing. Her style would fit in more with a biker crew than a law office, but it helps her a lot when she is out on the street. History: Miki Sato is a young but quite talented private investigator. She is half-Japanese and has grown up in Japan and America, since her parents got divorced early. She spent about half of her time in her youth in Japan with her father, which made fitting in in school not easy. In Japan she learned Jujutsu, an older form of Judo, because her father insisted that her daughter should be able to defend herself and because he was a teacher and owned a dojo and wanted his daughter around him. He also was quite strict when it came to rules and authority, and as a small form of rebellion, Miki learned to play the guitar. She had no idea at that time, but her mother was quite the opposite to her father when it came to abiding by the rules, and that was the reason the two had broken up and her father got her for six months of the year in Japan.

Her mother was the American part of her and she was a burglar, something Miki didn't realize when she was a kid. But her mom always had the best presents for her, and even though Miki had a bright intellect, she didn't make the connection when her mom taught her how to pick locks and climb into weird places. It was a game for her, and she loved making her mom proud.

That all came crashing down when Miki was taken by the police one day. They brought her to the coroner, where she had to identify her mom. She had been shot during a job, and only then Miki realized her mom had been on the wrong side of the law.

She spent a while in Japan with her dad before she decided that something was fishy about her mom's death. She returned to New York and found out who her mom had worked for and confronted that man without thinking. She almost got killed that day. Luckily for her the place they kept her was raided by the NYPD before they could do more to her than punch her a couple of times and break her nose. The detective leading the case visited her in the hospital afterwards and they became close. He retired from the NYPD soon after Miki left the hospital and started as a private investigator, and he took Miki under his wing. Now he has retired for real and moved to Florida, leaving the fledgling company to Miki.

Now she lives in a shitty apartment where she has a treaty with the cockroaches (if they come into her bed that means war). There is also a small office attached to it where she can meet with clients. It's all burdened down by quite a lot of debt, which was left to her as well. One more joke the old PI had played on her. At least she found a band where she could play guitar, and she enjoys their gigs quite a bit. They are playing metal with some progressive thrown in and have a small but loyal following.
