Caleb is forty-two, with medium black, wavy hair, dark hazel eyes, and black-rimmed glasses. In high school, he kept to himself, but he often hung out with Bernie, playing Dungeons & Dragons and watching sci-fi marathons. Caleb has always read voraciously, and after he graduated university, he took a job in Marietta, Ohio, as the town's librarian. He drives a beat-up Honda Accord and has an extensive collection of books, toys, and games.
