Background: Raymond Diaz is a native of East Harlem, and as a result had been looking for a way out of neighborhood his whole life. At eighteen he enlisted in the Army, and underwent Basic training in Fort Benning, Georgia. Despite his flippant and sarcastic attitude, Ray was scouted as having high potential, and was convinced to undergo Ranger training by higher ups.
After Infantry OSUT, he enjoyed all the nauseating training of Airborne School, quickly followed up by the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program, and finally, Ranger School itself. Those were the most grueling and exhausting months of his life. But Raymond is a stubborn bastard, and often overcame the obstacles out of sheer spite. Finally, after all of that he was assigned to the 3rd Ranger Battalion of the 75th Ranger Regiment. That was only the beginning of his career however.
He had six tours in the Middle East, participating in operations in both Iraq and Afghanistan. All his success eventually brought him to the attention of the 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment. And though he was loath to go through more training after so many years of active combat duty, he managed to get through the Operator Training Course, and found himself specializing as an Assault Team Breacher. Now a member of Delta Force, Raymond did all manner of clandestine operations for his country for the better part of seven years. He was even there to help extract key assets when America withdrew from Afghanistan.
For a time, Raymond gave serious thought to retiring, but when he was approached by certain people to become part of the International Covert Operations Unit, well...that was one fresh challenge that he hadn't beaten yet. And he had to admit, the idea of working without all the red tape and oversight appealed to his veteran heart deeply. He took the posting, and is ready to put foot-to-ass for the ICO Unit.
