Megan was born in Georgia and grew up hard and lean.  He had to fight for survival from a young age and became a ruthless gunman, damn dangerous with a knife too!  He doesn't care whether he lives or dies and this makes him the perfect hired gunman.  If you have nothing to lose you don't care who you take to the grave with you.

He ran across Bosch in Laredo who wisely saw his worth as a hired gun so signed him on.  Megan doesn't give a Mexican peso about his appearance and maybe bathes once a month (or so).

When he came to town he wasn't alone.  He had a cur mongrel following him which he is attached to so if anyone shows kindness to the dog he feels endebted to them.  Unfortunately Kentucky did just that and regularly gives the dog water and scraps from the kitchen of the Golden Garter because she loves animals.  She does not love Megan though, and he is definitely a rabid animal who now obesses that she belongs to him.  Not with him, to him.  Malcolm has won Kentucky's heart and body and so Malcolm has a death wish that Megan plans to oblige.  Megan will have Kentucky any way he can and if he has to rape her to get her that is not beneath him to do.  He is a very foul character, in more ways than one!
