Alessandra Docks was born in the docks of Portocanepo, the daughter of a smuggler and a dockside harlot. She started her career at sea as a cabin girl on a merchant ship when she was 9. She was rated a seawoman at 12, able seawoman at 14, and at 15 she joined the Dellavrian Marines. Soon she would resent the harsh discipline of military life.

At 17 she was part of the botched East Island landing, the last Dellavrian attempt at colonialism in the Kaginto Confederation. Alessandra's platoon couldn’t make it back to the beach before the ships sailed away, leaving them stranded. According to the Dellavrian Navy, she deserted; according to her, it was the Dellavrian Navy that deserted all of them.

A year later, the pirate sloop Red Siren stopped to resupply at the island, and Alessandra took the chance to get back on a ship.

She discovered a love for the piratical lifestyle. All along the coast of Armeia and Shubotai she captured merchantmen and raided coastal villages, using her military training with flamboyance and brio, earning the nickname Salty 'Sandra.

'Sandra was delighted to have finally found her true calling in life, when a massive storm sank the Red Siren and drowned most of the crew. Clinging to a floating barrel for dear life, 'Sandra arrived at the shore of an unknown island. She stranded and alone, with just the clothes on her back and her sword… but alive, and eager to find herself another crew, another ship, and as much gold as she could lay hands on.

'Sandra is a tall and physically impressive young woman, standing at 183 cm, with the tanned skin and athletic body of a lifetime at sea – at 19, she has spent more time on a deck than ashore. Her arms are covered in Kaginto tattoos, a memento from her time amongst the islanders. She wears salt-encrusted tall boots, fitted trousers and shirt, and carries her trusty Dellavrian Marine-issue falchion and a couple of daggers at her belt.
