John Buckley is a 25 year old soldier from Atlanta, Georgia. He grew up in the streets of downtown where he learned to handle himself while scrounging resalable junk from scrap heaps, dumpsters, recycling bins, and back alleys. He joined the US Army after high school and found a niche in the Infantry. He was capable with small arms and a good soldier in the field. Two things that got him promoted among his peers for the two years prior to the war.

When the war began he found himself selected, seemingly at random, to be trained in Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological Warfare. Midway through the war he managed to get selected for training to become an Airborne Ranger. This soon led to more challenging missions during the war. By the time of the Battle for Kalisz, Buckley had landed in an composite Infantry unit in the 5th Infantry Division. by the end of the battle he had managed to find himself companions with a vehicle. If he was going to be stuck in Europe the least he could do was stop walking across it.
