The 14 year old daughter of the notorious court lady Anne d'Ardelle, a very minor noble that maneuvered herself successfully into Barton Ashander's bed - and consequently, his bastard daughter into court. Scarlet has grown up at the court of her grandfather the Duke of Treshvand, educated in fine manners, dancing, singing and similar courtly pursuits.

A slender girl of 5'9'', Scarlet has her mother's grey eyes and blonde curls and her father's tall stature.

After some successful intrigue, she managed to send her rival Alyssa Travis into disgrace and became Keeper of the Cats.
