Background:
A war veteran, having served as an US Army Apache helicopter pilot in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, as well as in Afghanistan and Iraq, where he also flew Blackhawks.  He says the burn scar on his face is from the exhaust of a surface-to-air missile that passed through his canopy without detonating.
