At 6 ft 5 and 230 lbs, Richard is somewhat overweight, which he attributes to his age rather than not being in shape. He's still got all his hair, which he's grateful for, and he does like to read even if books have been replaced by pdfs over time.

In his personal life, he sees himself as 'one of the masses'. Single, no kids and stuck in a dead-end job while waiting for the mid-life crisis to hit. He tries to avoid attention simply because he doesn't like being in the spotlight, though if someone asks him for a favor he's quick to lend a hand. He is also quite proud of the fact that he doesn't smoke or drink and never has: He didn't like the taste of it when he tried and he didn't care enough about being popular in his youth for peer pressure to work.

About the only thing he figured the world had going for it was that his parents were still alive and the affection his pet rabbit was giving him, but then the world event happened.
