Dembe Lazarenko is a bald black man of medium-light complexion with a shaven head.  He is five feet ten inches tall and is slightly underweight for his height.  Surprisingly, he has grey eyes and an aquiline nose.  He dresses in jeans and cowboy shirts and boots with an old Soviet Navy coat.  It is unlikely that he was ever a member of the Soviet Navy since, as a thirty something, he is too young.

Dr Lazarenko is both erudite and intelligent.  He is also unexpectedly agile for an egghead.  They say he's a Xenobiologist but he laughs at this and says he's a Demonologist.
