Frack the Faithful

Frack was a goblin in the Iron Hills to the west of Landon's Point. He was shunned as a youngster for his lack of strength and eventually fled the hills in search of something bigger. He journeyed east, eventually finding the Crystal River. It was there his life would take a notable turn.

While attempting to capture a fish to fill his empty stomach, Frack fell in and started to panic. He was saved from drowning by an elderly passerby. The man was Rom the Radiant, a paladin of Pholtus who in his day traveled across the land in the name of that god. Long retired now, Rom lived in a simple cabin just north of Landon's Point. He and Frack became close friends, although Rom knew his remaining days in the world were short. In the time he had left, he taught Frack about the paladin ways, instilling in him a sense of purpose, honor, and righteousness.

About a year later, Rom died. Frack reported the events to the local church, however the order of paladins there assumed the goblin was a fraud and actually killed Rom for his possessions. Escaping narrowly with his life, Frack hid in a merchant's cart which he wrongfully assumed was headed to the larger city of Eastgate, a place that Rom suggested would be safer for a non-human such as himself. When Frack was finally uncovered, however, he learned the cart was on its way in the opposite direction, heading instead to the town of Tukoa to trade food and textiles for their newly popular healing mud. Fortunately for Frack, the head merchant, Eveline Pendergaas, was a friend of Rom, and trusted that Frack was harmless. Frack, for his part, agreed to accompany her as a guard, a deal to which she agreed (she really had no choice - Frack was going to accompany them either way).

And that is how a paladin goblin named Frack ended up on the road to Tukoa.
