Background: Kira was born into the wealthy Din Eusidia hegemony family on Kua and grew up in Sky City in the Monolith. As a teenager, she assisted her older sister, Dana, on xeno-archaeological expeditions for the Foundation, and became fascinated with the Portal Builders. Kira attended the Zenith Aviation Academy on Kua. She humiliated and scarred a young Astir nobleman in a duel. The nobleman's family declared a blood feud against Kira, so she was forced to lie low for a while to protect her family.
