Riikka Korpi is a Rasalhague native, born and raised in Reykjavik. She is of largely Sami and Finnish descent, in as much as such things can still be tracked centuries after humanity's diaspora from Terra. She is a direct descendant of the semi-notable Mercenary 'Mech pilot Jarold Hrafn, who was known for being a certifiably insane Wasp WSP-1W pilot and something of a playboy with lovers in every port of call.
Of fairly average height and with enough muscle mass to make her appear overweight, Riikka has a curvy build with deceptive strength. She has spent most of her life laboring in technical workshops, from simple communications hardware repair all the way up to 'Mech bays. Actually piloting a BattleMech of her own is a relatively new thing for the young Rasalhagian.
During her career in the DCMS, she had time to polish her Japanese and was dubbed 'Sami' by her colleagues. This was simultaneously a nod to her ethnic heritage, a jab at her weight, and because both her given name and surname have phonemes absent from Japanese making them difficult to pronounce. She embraced the name, usually writing it as 'Sammy' and it has become her callsign since she became a MechWarrior.
Riikka can typically be found in common, affordable clothing - most of which bears some kind of stain from Technician work. She typically wears fatigue pants, a tank top and sports bra, and plasteel boots. She is almost never seen without her pistol sidearm holstered at her right hip. Belying her common, blue-collar appearance, she speaks three languages well and has the expertise to maintain the complicated technology of a BattleMech on her own - not that anyone wants to do that job by themselves.

Draconis Combine Reputation
Riikka "Sammy" Korpi has spent the last couple of years stirring up anti-Combine sentiment in the Rasalhague Military District. She is believed to hold a personal hatred of House Kurita for their role in the oppression of her people and made waves by taking a stand for Rasalhagian independence. This has made it difficult for her to find work in Combine Space as all the good people who stay in line won't have anything to do with her. She must have had some success as she had to leave Combine space to let the heat die down a bit.

Rasalhague Planetary Flag
Riikka has the official planetary flag of Rasalhague tattooed over her heart. This is at least partially visible over undergarments or clothing like tank tops.
Rasalhague Regulars Insignia
After enlisting in the DCMS on Rasalhague, as a show of solidarity with others in her basic training group, Riikka got the emblem of the Rasalhague Regulars command tattooed on her left shoulder.
Thessalonika Planetary Flag
As a member of the DCMS, Riikka was assigned to a command on Thessalonika and had the planetary flag added to her left arm below the Rasalhague Regulars insignia.
13th Rasalhague Regulars
Riikka was assigned to the 13th Regulars as a technician - and later 'Mech Tech on Thessalonika. There, once again in the name of solidarity, she had the unit insignia tattooed on her right shoulder.
Blue Crows
Not aware of the fact that the unit was about to be dissolved, Riikka had the emblem of the Blue Crows added to her right arm just below that of the 13th Rasalhague Regulars.

The flag of the ancient Sápmi region on Terra - home to Riikka's ancestors a thousand years in the past - is emblazoned in full, brilliant color on her upper back from shoulder to shoulder.
