Theus

Theus Grisworld, briefly known as Devil-Eyes, is a recent recruit to RHC. Seeing a tiefling isn't unusual in Flint, but Theus's infernal ancestry is much more pronounced than his other brethren. But beneath his unholy form, even a minute of interaction reveals him to be a gentleman, scholar, and a rising detective.

Born in Danor, as most tieflings trace their lineages towards, Theus was the only child of a middling merchant couple. With his parent's financial support Theus got an excellent education and quickly became a minor diplomat. The work suited him, the paperwork and people-work. After a handful of short years, he was assigned to a Danor embassy in Risur, which was life-changing.

Just a couple of weeks into his new post, Theus noticed some oddities happening around him. He knew that the lands outside of Danor worked with an additional force of nature called magic. So he hired an expert to hopefully identify and explain what was happening. The unexpected answer was, Theus was happening around him. Somehow he had an innate talent for moving the arcane currents flowing around everywhere, except Danor.

Then for a year, he trained on how to control this. And when the letter from the capital came, recalling Theus back to Danor, he knew he couldn't go back. It was like asking a fish to return to a desert. Unthinkable.

So he stayed in Risur, then quickly moved to Flint as a metropolis would be filled to the brim with opportunities for learning magic and perhaps even earning a living from it.

He didn't become a wizard by trade, even with his talent his very late introduction to magic seemed to block his potential for some arcane reason. But he was a man of reason, documents and people were his trade before. With some networking, he soon started an investigation business. Sometimes taking civil, sometimes taking financial cases.

After several months of that, RHC approached him for a job. Which was fortunate, he was quickly realizing that he was terrible at managing the business side of his employment. He accepted the offer without hesitation.
