Hulking and heavily bearded, Ernst is considered the local authority on woodcraft and the taking of game. Still in his late twenties, it is commonly known that he lost his young wife in childbirth several years ago, along with the babe, and that he has not entertained another match since.

There is a rumor that he went abroad in his youth, perhaps to Iberia, but the stories vary wildly.

As the manor has become more established, Ernst has had a difficult time keeping up with the latest trends in working with hounds, falconry and in interacting with visiting nobility during the hunts. Some have hinted that a more genteel figure might be required to serve in the role in the future.
