Charlie Knudson

The Basics

Name: Charlie Knudson

Gender: Hard to tell under the shaggy hair and hoodie. Any pronouns used are fine.

Age: 23

Race: Human

The Physical

Physical Description: Wavy chestnut hair is styled into a side parted bowl-cut. The thick framed coke bottle glasses under their bangs made their grey-green eyes look huge. About 5’9” when standing up completely straight, the nerd’s portly frame was always covered in some kind of graphic tee, a hoodie, black cargo shorts, and socks and sandals. This habit does not falter in neither the winter nor summer months. They only recently upgraded their fanny pack to a backpack, which is covered in pins and keychains from vtubers, anime, and visual novels. Their nails are cut short and painted black. They speak with a slight lisp.

Talents & Weaknesses

Skills: Incredible research skills, uses books and the internet to find just about any information or object you could want. In their humble opinion if they can’t find it or find someone who can, it’s not worth finding at all.

Good sprinter: This nerd can run FAST if not for very long. Their asthma will almost always flare up afterwards, however, requiring them to use their short-acting inhaler.

Powers: Not Applicable. They dabble in mundane witchcraft practices like Wicca/Stragheria but aren’t a capital-P Practitioner.

Vulnerabilities: No athletic ability: Charlie cannot throw, cannot jump/leap, and has aforementioned asthma. Hand-eye coordination and balance are abysmal.

Asthma: triggered by exertion, cold dry air, smoke/other pollutants, and the anxiety attacks they’ve been prone to since their parents’ death.

Under The Hood

Personality: Obsessive when it comes to the supernatural, and anime of course.

Backstory: Charlie grew up in Elmhurst, a little suburb about half an hour west of Chicago. In their childhood, they were frequently bullied for how clumsy they were, and spent a lot of time reading manga in the library. As a teen, Charlie’s parents supported them through their hobbies and encouraged their creative pursuits, and they made friends with their art on the webforum TerraOnline. When it came time to pick out a college, Charlie wanted to go to NYU against their parents wishes. But the visual arts program there is fantastic, they argued, and I have to level up my art if I want to make it professionally.. Eventually, the elder Knudsons assented, and Charlie was off to “the Akihabara of America”.

Sadly, during the semester tragedy struck. While their parents were on a date in Chicago, the titaness Ethniu emerged with Her retainers and slaughtered anyone who had the misfortune of crossing her path. They’d been critically injured in the crossfire between the titaness and the Accorded Nations, and died of their wounds in the hospital.

A devastated Charlie withdrew far into themself. Their parents were dead. Monsters were real. Charlie’s world as they knew it had been shattered.

Charlie became obsessed with the supernatural. Trying to understand just what happened to their parents, and the new world order in general. They joined an online peer group for people who’d been affected by the Incident and met their current circle of friends: other outcasts that were equally obsessed to learn as much about the new world as possible.

Now, a pattern of strange events in New York City has their paranoia working overtime. In these once familiar streets they see shadows everywhere. Charlie investigates with the hope of making their world make sense once more.

Connections: Charlie has a Signal group chat with some friends they made in a peer-discussion group.
