Guardian

- Character Name (with aliases, nicknames, or call signs) Guardian (real name Kklksgkakston)

- Race: unknown

- Age: unknown

- Concept/Role on Babylon 5: protector, peacekeeper, and experiencer of new things

- What types of story or plot lines would you like to prioritize?

Guardian would be largely involved in plots helping those who are in dire need, whether that is as a body guard or simply providing a safe haven.  Short of the children he takes care of Guardian become involved if someone was causing significant problems and disrupting the tenuous balance between the various organizations that are in control there.  Guardian would also likely become involved in new species appearing if he can or various open cultural festivals.

Guardian would avoid coming into direct conflict with any of the older races and their war games as much as he can.  He knows that they could drive him off or kill him outright if they wanted to and he is tolerated because he stays neutral.  He will protect what he considers “his territory” regardless of who it is should it become necessary.

- Goal (what is the character’s driving goal or ambition?

Guardian’s longterm goal, like all of his kind, is to experience new things.  Given their incredibly long lifespan they travel the stars and beyond to experience new things as if they don’t they become melancholy or bored.

In the short term Guardian is making an effort to protect those under his care and those who simply cannot protect themselves as well as avoiding drawing too much attention to himself from the authorities.

- Description

Guardian is a roughly seven feet tall if he stands up straight but his physiology leaves him closer to six.  He is humanoid, if only barely, looking much like the gargoyles of human legend without wings or tail.  His eyes are a pale blue and when he experiences high emotions they begin to glow faintly with a blue light.  His skin looks much like that of a human’s pale tan in color, and his brown hair hair is worn fairly short.  His feet are clawed, as are his hands, and he wears a deeply hooded and voluminous cloak to conceal his more atypical features.  His feet aren’t designed for shoes, making his clawed toes click on the decking as he walks, and his legs are jointed differently, with an extra reverse canted knee, which makes his gait bob up and down more than most species as well as lowering his height closer to six feet.

While he has taken a few hits from PPGs when he has gotten into fights he uses an incredible agility to simply dodge and use cover to get closer until he can disarm his opponents.  He is capable of digging into the materials that make up the corridors and is capable of “running” on the walls or ceilings for short stretches as well as jumping between them.  It is also rumored that he has strong telepathic abilities but no one can actually prove it one way or another though he has been shown capable of blocking telepathic scans in the past and his mind is alien enough that few telepaths would risk trying anymore.

- Personality

Guardian lives in Down Below were he serves as a sort of protector to those in dire need.  While he largely stays out of others business there are times he will intervene if he takes an interest in someone or something.  He has become something of a caretaker for many of the orphans who live in the sector and does not take any harm to them lightly.  He at times will take a job for hire as a bodyguard but is quite selective in his choice of clientele and doesn’t work for anyone he deems to be a part of the problems that riddle Down Below.

Guardian also makes forays up into the more populous sectors as he enjoys studying the various species that arrive on the station.  He is very much a wanderer, a being that simply wants to experience new things whether that is a new species or try a new food, and with Babylon 5 becoming a hub of species and activity it is a good place for him to settle down for a while and let these experiences come to him.

- History

Kklksgkakston has been on Babylon 5 since shortly after it opened.  He made his way on board during the opening ceremonies and then found a place in Down Below and simply never left.  He kept a low enough profile that few realized he was even there until one of the gangs tried to sell a trio of children as slaves near the are he made his home.  Kklksgkakston’s people abhor slavery and he was not about to let it happen if he could stop it.

The next several minutes were full of screaming as he disposed of the filth that would traffic in people’s lives.  Only the last one, a young man ho had only been conscripted into the gang, was left alive after firing the last two rounds of his PPG at pointblank range into Guardian and not leaving a scratch.  Guardian calmly reached out, took the gun, and crushed it, before handing it back and simply saying, “Boo.”

By the time anyone could come back to look for him he and the children were gone and no trace of the bodies were found.  The three children were terrified of him, at first , but Kklksgkakston never hurt them.  He bandaged their wounds, gave them food, and kept them safe as they recovered from the ordeal.  One of the children, a Minbari girl named Mireen was the first to open up to him when he heard her screaming one night in her sleep.  Kklksgkakston knelt next to her, held her hand, and stayed until she had fallen asleep.  The next morning she called him Father, though he did not understand her at the time.  The other two children, Brian, a human boy, and Ta’Rok a Narn boy opened up as well some time later.

Over their time together all three children started calling Kklksgkakston “Guardian” because none of them could say his name right.  He took his duties seriously and kept the three children safe, teaching them and caring for them as his own.  Guardian eventually made sure that his particular territory was well known and largely left those outside of it to themselves.

Not long after the Vorlon Ambassador, Kosh, arrived on the station and was attacked Guardian helped, without it being obvious, track down the attackers.  He knew that the event could lead to serious problems for his recently adopted home and he did not want to have to move because some elder species got pissy and destroyed the station.  After the Ambassador’s recovery Guardian and Kosh met face to face.  No one knows what happened between them, they simply seemed to stare at each other, though one person swore that both were revealed as beings of energy and swore that Guardian “hugged” Kosh with living lightning bolts.  It was dismissed as the rantings of a drug addled hallucination and ignored.  Moments later the two turned and left, never meeting again.

Since then Guardian has, at times, gone out of his way to help people who needed it.  Rarely would he intervene directly but he was known to “just happen” to cross the path of a person’s pursuers and his presence was enough to stop the pursuers cold long enough to let their victim get away.  Most people rarely saw him and many believed he didn’t exist, which was fine with Guardian.  He took in additional children at times, some coming, some going, but has largely kept to himself for the last two years.
