Sun Ye was born in Shou Lung, to a human and an azata, and she has the blood of chaos in her, a Ganzi. She does not wear armor, and carries the traditional pair of samurai weapons, a katana and a wakazashi. She was unaware of her parentage until she came of age, and discovered that the woman that had raised her with her father, was not her mother. When the truth came out, she felt the urge to leave home, and ended up in Waterdeep, on the Sword Coast after leaving Shou Lung. Skilled with a blade, she initially joined a mercenary band of adventurers, but left after one of their missions was not what she thought it was, and she ended up doing something that went against her beliefs, and required her to atone to Kwan Ying for her actions. After that, she met up with her current companions in pursuit of more noble actions and adventures.

Sun Ye blends art with sword play, and trusts implicitly in her sword dancing skills, eschewing armor as proscribed by her order, the Order of the Songbird. She is as skilled with dancing, calligraphy and gardening as she is fighting with her katana, and always makes time for the arts and meditation, believing that patience is a virtue that aids one in their pursuits, whether it be martial, artistic or life. She currently resides in Velprintalar in Aglarond, finding the beauty of the country to be to her liking, and her home, while modest and spartan, does have a rather extensive, well maintained garden, including some species of plants and trees imported from Shou Lung.

She is a stunning, beautiful woman, who wears traditional Shou silk clothing in a variety of colors and patterns. Even though she is a ganzi, the only real noticeable trait of her planar heritage are her eyes, which sometimes glow softly.

She has a significant other, a beautiful sun elf witch named Eliamara that was also part of that first mercenary company that she joined, and then left. Eliamara comes and goes, but the two always return to each other, and have had a bond for quite some time.
