Born in Manitoba in 1971, Trooper Alice Mercredi worked some odd jobs before joining the Canadian Forces. Her trades in the armoured corps included MP, transport driver and mechanic. During the war he was assigned to a Militia armoured recce unit, the 4th Canadian Reconnaissance Squadron, (Fort Garry Horse). In 1996 they were stood-up and sent west to join the war effort in Korea but after the nuclear strikes and the Soviet invasion of Alaska, the Yukon and BC saw her unit diverted to fighting in Northern BC.

She tends to be more personable than the typical armoured trooper, and has a wide range of options when it comes to dispute resolution.

Her husband and two children died in the nuclear attacks and their aftermath in 1997. She was born in Grand Rapids and she is Cree and belongs to the Misipawistik Cree Nation. She is distantly related on her father's side to a well-known politician, Ovide Mercredi, who was elected National Chief for the Assembly of First Nations. He also played an important role in national politics and the constitutional discussion of the Charlottetown Accord. After she was born her father moved to Winnipeg with her mother and three sisters. She is Roman Catholic and has always voted NDP.
