[Exalted 2.5 Dragon-blooded] Outcastes on the Open Sea

Outcastes on the Open Sea is an Exalted 2nd Edition game for Outcaste Dragon-Blooded in the West. You may also play an Ex-Dynast or Ex-Lookshy Terrestrial, or a Half-Blood (using Scroll of Heroes rules).

The PCs are part of a group of seafaring adventurers who belong to no nation. The Cobalt Alliance could be considered 'pirates', and indeed they are registered as licensed privateers of Coral. However, unlike most privateers, they strive to keep to a certain code of conduct: they are not needlessly violent, they do not plunder purely for pleasure, they do not exterminate those who surrender to them honorably.

Whenever they can, Cobalt chooses as their targets those who would oppose civilization and order in the world, whose intent is to profit through ruthlessness and show little or no sympathy for mortalkind. They are wary of those with power who would deem themselves conquerors, or harbingers of a new world order. The Lintha and the Fair Folk are their enemies; they steer clear of allying with Skullstone, and remain neutral in the conflict between Coral and Wavecrest, counting both Coral pirates and Tya among their allies. They observe the Anathema with trepidation, attentive for signs of corruption.

Theirs is a precarious position. Yet because of the standards they have so far managed to uphold, the Cobalt Alliance enjoys a freedom in the West that many groups would envy. Even the Realm does not hinder them, though they keep an eye on the efforts of these exiles, these 'lost eggs' that strive to remain a neutral power in a world of shifting ideologies. For now... they remain distant relatives, and largely disregarded.

What to Expect

- Outcastes exploring the West!
- PCs cooperating as a team with similar ideologies.
- Naval battles, whether for survival or to capture cargo.
- Making or breaking alliances with a variety of powers.
- Being a 'good' pirate. Or at least a neutral one.
- Sea monsters and Fair Folk and Demon-bloods, oh my!
- Fun! (or so I hope)

What Not to Expect

- PvP or excessive character drama.
- Playing a ruthless pirate or conqueror.
- Making enemies of everyone you meet.
- Dragon-Blooded vs. Anathema (Solars/Lunars/etc. are not enemies by default)
- Outcastes vs. the Realm (the whole point is to be a 'free' Terrestrial!)
- Extended shore leave (unless it's for a good plot reason)
- Sailing outside the West is also unlikely. But could happen one day!
