I am Gebretsadik bisi Dakuen.  A sarwen of the great Empire of Aksum.

Have you never heard of my land?  It lies south of Egypt, Alwa, and Makouria- near to where the Arabian Gulf empties into the Erythrean Sea.

Ah... perhaps in Greek you know it as Aethiopia.

Mine is a sad tale.  I was born and lived in the Semien mountains for most of my life, wandering the forests and attending to my duties with the sarawit.

But I left my beloved homeland, and followed our Negusa Nagast into exile with the Mohammedans in Shewa, after the murder of his family by the usurper.

One day, the rightful king Dil Na'od shall again sit upon the throne stolen by the witch queen Yodit.

But not today.

Today I am but a humble pilgrim.  The monks of Debre Damo told me I must travel to the Holy City... and beyond.

As such you find me- the humble bearer of a proud tradition, and a guardian of the flame of the line of Solomon.
