Narayani Abirim

Full Name: Narayani Abirim
Nickname: Rani
Age: 19
Age apparent: 21
Gender: F
Sexuality: Who Knows Really?

Languages: Alderaanian, and many many others from her travels.
Species: Humanoid
Homeworld: Alderaan

Overall Appearance: Rani is delicate, slender and athletic with curves in the right places but nothing that drags the eye like the flashier women of other worlds. What pulls a gaze is the way she holds herself, a walk that is more pantherish that seductive, predatory and lithe as if a single move in the wrong direction will make her pounce. Cheekbones are high, dark eyes, liquid and unblinking seem to stare through another if she deems you unworthy of her attention but never assume that she doesn't know you are there, you just hold no interest save as a possible threat. Dusky skin, long limbs for her rather short height and slender fingers with nails that gleam. She is well kept, an aura of wealth in the clothing even if the style may not be what is current. Dark hair, a tumble of it to her shoulders, pulled back in a braid if in physical training or exercise but it is loose as a rule, making her appear softer that the stark exotic cat-like face in sharp relief. A full mouth, smiles slight and very far between. There is seriousness and a lack of amusement in her gaze. All in all, Rani is there to be a warrior and it shows.

Height: 5' 1"
Weight: 115
Eye Color: Brown
Hair color: Brown
Hair Style: Loose unless training
Complexion: Olive
Body shape: Slender and athletic
Clothing: Depends, but favors things close to the skin, saves her if in a confrontation, nothing loose to grab.
Character Model: No clue...just a picture.

Basic Personality: Rani can be summed up really in one word, intense. From a molten gaze to a body that screams it's readiness to do what is necessary, she comes across at first as the quiet one. The gaze never falters, sizing up and sorting a person into her own personal categories. A lifetime of wandering, one ship to the next make her insulated, hard to get to know and seemingly cold. Really, why be friendly when no one stays for long save the ones closest to you. Don't get her wrong, she will talk if you are deemed worthy, her knowledge vast not only of her own culture but of the worlds that her transient extended family has visited, but if dismissed as beneath her notice, you will get a cold shoulder at first, then flat out told the hard truth if you press her. The Academy taught her much in the ways of the force, but the protective shell hardened in that atmosphere, her place as one of the few and sister of one of the 'greats' meaning little. If anything the fact that her brother is a Jedi Master brought pushes to try harder from the instructors and whispered barbs from other students when she failed. So Rani did what she had to, excelled and pulled that armor against the world a little tighter. Not many friends when you can't let anyone past the barriers unless they try hard and Rani became a loner. Anyone willing to keep up the assault will find walls melting and what lay underneath is a sharp mind with a wicked sense of humor and keen observations that may surprise them. Insight born of living from ship to ship, world to world that would become a blur to most.

Sexual Likes: Just starting out but a caring partner, and a little roughness, perhaps from years of hard training
Sexual Dislikes: Love'em and Leave'em attitude. Cocksure asshats who think that she is an easy mark
Sexual Strengths: Intense and takes charge in turns and will hand over her heart if the partner is right, will try about anything
Sexual Weaknesses: Very hard to get to know, so very hard to get into bed, must have trust to allow anyone that sort of closeness.

Merits: Intelligent and well versed, a quick learner and fast on her feet as well, willing to go any extra mile to excel

Flaws: seemingly cold and unfeeling, very personal and shares very little of her own feelings and thoughts unless a bond is there, keeps to herself as a rule and in that comes off as thinking herself superior

Combat Style and Lightsaber Description: Rani bears dual Lightsabers, black handled with silver detailing, yellow beams as bright as the Alderaanian sun she heard so much about as a child. Dual saber attacks are lethal and as graceful as a ballet, her leaping and twisting making her a formidable opponent. Guess years of having nothing to do because of antisocial tendencies have paid off with extra time to practice. She excels at Form IV but is doing her best to learn the other higher levels.

Force Strengths: Rani is like her brother in some respects, perhaps a natural talent in using the force, sensing it and molding it to what is expected. She has embraced the edicts of the Jedi, compassion, selflessness, self-knowledge and enlightenment, healing, mercy and benevolence and rarely strays off this path. There is a willingness to try, to push the edges of her abilities to see just how far they will let her go. Her major strength, Kenesis, lightning fast with her sabers or hand to hand, Rani has excelled at and impressed her teachers to no small degree. Current as well is an aspect she shines at, a warrior in all ways that she can tap into.

Force Weaknesses: Her own insulation from those around her can hamper her ties to the force itself, protective shell making connections weak with some. The aspect of  Mind is one of the weakest, insulation making it hard for her to connect with other beings that are highly sentient. Rani struggles with the urge to protect herself from contact and the need to fuse to achieve the ends expected.
Her continual push to be best, to be strongest are not in at all a temptation of the dark side but more a need to prove herself to not only to her own mind but to those who hold her brother up as an example. He too is a major driving force to excel. When she doesn't, or can't get past that last hurdle, the shove to keep doing so can hamstring her to the point of crippling her and her connection, her focus. And doubting herself leads to shaky control.

History: Narayani was born on a ship, breathing recirculated and cleansed air from the moment she cleared the birth canal. Even then, she was a quiet one, not crying at the sudden explosion of light and sound, just staring with wide eyes at the blurry images that faded in and out of her limited sight. A strange life, the nomadic travels of the Alderaanian people, searching futilely for a replacement for their destroyed planet. Wanderers, gypsies and while displaced by chance, they protected their culture fiercely, never letting the children born forget what had been lost.

This is much of her childhood, different worlds and cultures opened like books for her to peruse while mother and father, elders as well taught her, the Alderaanian ways, art, philosophy and a culture rich in tradition. Doted upon, a princess in some eyes, Rani flourished under their watchful eye, but as she got older, her abilities, sensitivity to the force and others around her was not to be taken lightly. Her brother visited when he could, infrequent and always bearing a gift from his own travels and those things lay in prominence on a shelf in her room.

But he always left, everyone eventually left her life, either by staying planetside when the ship warped or moving on to explore on their own path. Parents much older, with so many pressing tasks and responsibilities, it was hard to understand their young daughter, her confusion at loss and pain when the only other one in her world seemed to visit less and less, his students a major focus in thought and discussion and often with him when he visited. Rani began to pull away, not physically but emotionally, bright smiles becoming dimmer and scarce, eyes swallowing every emotion till their darkness took on a Stygian quality, fathomless and cold. Such strangeness at a tender age, remarked on by few as it was put down as growing pains but it had an impact. The happy expression when Mattan arrived became a memory, gaze dim when it lit on yet another student who seemed to be the focus of his world, his sister an afterthought and to be bought off with a gift before he blasted off yet again. Mother and Father got more, a thawing of the ice slowly forming around her heart and she clung to them when they were all together, needed something to make up for the brother she was fast coming to resent and avoid when she could. More time alone, more time to explore new places and learn what she could from the ones at the helm of their ship, in the holds making the engines work. Knowledge filled the thirst for affection to a small extent and even young Rani had a vast array of tidbits to draw from, everything from engineering to navigation, repair and building from the base up. Her budding tingle, sensitivity to the Force was explored, like a child poking a strange animal with a stick, Rani pushed and tried, no real path but it had results, more and more on ship remarking on how like her brother she was becoming.

Her parents noticed as well and there was talk between the two and when Rani turned ten, the decision was made, the Academy for Narayani, then like her brother before her, to become Padawan, a knight and if things followed their course, a Master. Rani didn't care, she didn't want to leave, wanted the last bastion of her life to remain but there was no arguing and a heart wrenching goodbye later, she was off.

The Academy didn't help the young girl unfold, instead it drove her deeper into her shell, that protective armor that kept anyone from reaching in, from anyone getting close enough to hurt her. And pain became a way of life. If it wasn't Mattan being held up in example, shown how well HE did in comparison with disappointment in every line, it was those hurtful whispers, the jibes at Narayani's failures. It pushed her, it pushed her abilities to the very edge time and time again. Tears became a humiliation to shed, even in pain and Rani slid further and further into the coldness. No real interaction save a couple of very close friends, there was time to practice, time others spent in leisure Rani meditated, worked to the edge of exhaustion and crawled into bed bruised and hurting.

Mattan visited, but found a different person than perhaps he remembered, an aloof fighter who seemed to withdraw at the barest hint of closeness. Gone were the prized trinkets, instead a sparse environment of a drifter with no real attachment save the ones that sired her. Rani excelled, besting the levels of Lightsaber combat at a dizzying speed, ability with dual weapons one that at first was frowned upon as being cocky and overblown, but the sheer grace in the way she wielded the bright blades convincing the naysayers quickly. Still, while Rani became the warrior she had envisioned, some aspects of her training still proceeded to escape her, that hardened shell a barrier hard to overcome. Rani is lethal, practiced and as stealthy as the exotic cat she resembles with those tilted eyes and triangular face, but she is far from perfect and is not sure that she will ever conquer the disciplines that elude her.
