A youngish but driven junior professor at a small, conservative college, Jennifer is a bit of a nerd, and somewhat awkward about other people.   Part of that is her devotion to books rather than the rules of social conduct, and part of that is due to her darkest secret, that she's always been attracted to other girls.

Raised by her very strict and conservative Catholic parents, a Chinese businessman and a Welsh nurse, Jennifer had been brought up to believe such feelings were evil and the product of a sick mind.  She's since learned differently, but knowing that and letting go of those feelings are two different things.

This dichotomy has been her obsession, both in her work life and her non-existant social life, for years.

Her recent discovery, however, might change that.
