The War of the Righteous: A campaign that sought to cleanse the world of sin. But did nothing more than scar the continent of Baloryn and its inhabitants.

The people of Troatia were blessed by the elements and embraced their powers whilst using them to uphold their beliefs and morals. They sought to rid this world of the evil and sinister Xirithil. A nation whom acquired its power through the darkness and shadows. The Xirithil believe that their role in this war was simply to defend themselves against the relentless Troatian assaults. They thought the elementalists simply did not understand the shadows, and thus had to eradicate the unknown, the fear, that was the Xirithil.

Finally, after a century of tears and bloodshed, the war had come to a stalemate. With both the Troatians and the Xirithil suffering staggering losses, both factions pulled away from the battlefield to mend their wounds. The Era of Silence, as it came to be known, has now been stable for fifty-nine years and is approaching the sixtieth anniversary. Populations and cities have been rebuilt, new blood has risen to command the elements as well as the darkness, and again tensions have began to run high. Each nation has slowly expanded and conflicts have begun to arise once more, fueled by fear.

Amongst the ever escalating tension, many rumors have floated from one city to the next and from a variety of sources, all sharing similar details. Whispers have brought word that barbaric, half man, half beast entities have been spotted in remote areas of Baloryn. Most tales tell of hunters who had stalked a miraculously large, feral beast, only for the animal to become as a man: standing on two legs with a voice and an intelligence. Most of the stories end in the hunter becoming the hunted and meeting death by the beasts hands.

Other whispers speak of caravans and travelers randomly disappearing on the road. More often then not the people speak of the travelers being slaughtered right on the road and others having gone missing. Regardless of the method, the outcome remains the same: the travelers are no more. Could these supposed incidents tie into the reports of the beast men? Or possibly another mystery entirely of its own...Only time will tell.
