Into the Open Skies ( Darkness Rising)

The world as it is known Is a vast shelter from the ravages of Chaos and haven for races once enslaved by it's masters. All Folk Live in the knowledge that Protected by the creator And the Light Of the Forge, they can go about their lives Free of the horrors that lurk Beyond the great barriers.

   Rising from the dark ages following a war that shattered entire continents. The Folk Of the realms have for a century sailed the open skies in craft fueled by Arcane and Mechanical Power. Huge Islands drifting in the Endless skies Now trade with one another, Ships of all sizes wander the realms seeking trade, New lands, and ancient Knowledge hidden among the shattered islands of the Forgotten Kingdoms.
    From the Dark and treacherous Out lands, and the drifting rubble that was once a mighty empire, to the Forge baked wastelands of the Ashanto wastes . Adventurers merchants, soldiers and Scholars journey ever vigilant for a chance at wealth, fame, or secrets.
   Lesser folk ply the Open Skies for their livelihood. fishermen, hunters, merchants, and peddlers. raping the bounty of vast Shoals of aerial denizens. trading for raw materials or peddling the goods forged in the great cities.

      But all is not quiet in the realms, a decade of wars has ended and a few precious years of peace have passed. But clouds darken the horizon two great empires are expanding into the vast unsettled regions of the realms. and where ambition and greed go war follows close behind. The Methaii build up their massive fleets and colonize the less settled regions with gunboats and bayonets.  and the Ruthae extend there power keeping their colonies under control with their armies and economic might.
    Unrest has grown as younger more vigorous Kingdoms vie for freedom and scattered rebellions and mutinies have cropped up in regions once firmly under the control of the greater kingdoms.
   And to add to the unrest the time grows closer for the Ebbing of the forge, when darkness will fall across the reals for longer than any living person can recall. Priests warn of perilous times, and instability grows in weather and magic as the light of the Forge grows weaker in advance of the Ebbing. Alrady nervous leaders see the coming ebbing as a sign that troubles will increase and their paranoia fuels the more militant groups within the kingdoms. All fear that with the dimming of the troubles will erupt ending the brief time of plenty across the realms.


This game will be using a classless, and customization friendly D20 (DEBUGGED)system.
For basic mechanics and skills. Combat and powers will be using a skill based system that allows full customization of  combat styles and powers to suit the players desires without saddling the players with any cumbersome math or arbitrary rules.
    In addition there are no mandatory and arbitrary limits on styles. The the GM and Player will be working together to make each character as unique, and effective, as possible. By setting personal "special effects", limitations, and advantages within the framework of skills, powers and techniques provided, each Player will be able to structure an character who will be both unique and as effective as he wishes to be without being hobbled or saddled with someone else's view of how he should do thing.
    No characters are automatically useless in a given situation all characters have an equal chance to excel in a field of their choosing and are fully capable of shining in their area of specialty without running to hide behind their friends, unless the player wants it that way.


Character will begin play at third level. Either as one of the described races or a race they create using a simple system to tailor their own. ( player created races will be subject to GM approval and will be used as NPCs or for flavor in the game by the GM)
    Magic, Mechanical Engineering( Mechaniks,) and Technomancy are common and equally powerful in this world, Powers tools and devices will have minor advantages and limitations based on their origin and be commonly available.
   The world is a fairly modern, ( pre-World War one to pre-world War Two) with some isolated enclaves of much more advanced tech and magic, and enclaves of medieval culture and advancement.
  Magic,Science, and religion are in competition, but not at odds. each group of specialists seeks to advance and improve their own specialization but tend to view other specializations as mere competitors for resources power and prestige not threats to their existence.
