Diastima

Six months ago Diastima was part of a specialized crew that was going on a training missing at another ship.  The other ship had a few members of an alien humanoid race on it the Gamarians that had interbred with humans.  They were also highly trained and those of the other race had certain extra skills including some had some telepathic ability, vision ability and or were highly rational so that their strategy and ability to avoid danger was developed in a different way, which was one of the reasons the joint training session was first going to take place.  At the end of the training mission on the last day, the little daughter of the only Gamarian woman came up to Diastima while the crews were all enjoying one last meal together.  Diastima had previously talked to and befriended the little girl.  Now the little girl said ‘You are in danger’, Diastima looked around and said ‘Right here where I’m sitting?’  The little girl insisted that Diastima follow her to her quarters.  While sitting in the dark in the little girl’s quarters, through a glass window, they saw a troop of soldiers with guns start flooding through the ship—it was clear they didn’t belong there and they were there to assassinate everyone.  They were dressed in government uniforms.  There is a reason the government would want to kill these crews…for one they were very afraid of the Gamarian influence and ability and second, the combination of the crews training would put too many fleets out of the control of the government.  So they needed to kill two birds with one stone although it is unknown if they knew Diastima’s crew was there.

Diastima and the little girl fled to an offshoot engine room and found some insulated panels to hide behind.  A few minutes later two other crew members that must have escaped ran in and hid in a similar place, but Diastima could only see their legs and not who they were.  The military search crew came in and began to search the room……..

We now jump to the current time.  Diastima found that she and about 5 crew members survived the search including the half-Gamarian little girl.  They were able to find an escape shuttle in time and return back to Earth unseen on Diastima’s main ship which she now controlled because her captain and the other crew’s captain had both perished in the attack.  There they took the resources of the two crews from which they came and amassed many ships and crew to go onto a mission into space under the guise of assisting the government.
