Infinite Odyssey- The First
Infinite Odyssey is an original universe. The universe was created to encourage the creativity of all players and to make a role-playing game that was ideal for all types of role-players.

While Infinite Odyssey is definitely owned by the creators, it is encouraged for all comers to make their own games. The game is about what anyone can do, not about what some people can do. It is a game that is meant to be shared in order to show to all role-players what we're all capable of.

The game's only set theme is Science-Fiction. This is because technically the universe mostly finds setting in space and other Sci-Fi settings. However, there are no other set themes. IO was created so that it could encumber any other set of themes that the players and the story teller (or "game master") wished. IO was meant to be played by people with vision--- whether that vision was Horror, Action, Adventure, Crime, Military and Espionage, Religious and Spiritual, Romance, Thrillers and Suspense, Western (Firefly, anyone?), Dystopian, Philosophical, Punk, Cyberpunk, Steampunk, Alien, Magic Realism, Paranormal, Tragedy... The list goes on and on. IO is not about what the "book" tells you to do or tells you that you "can" do. It's about what you can imagine--- more specifically, whatever you can make work. IO is not about restrictions. It is supposed to be infinite. You are supposed to create an odyssey.

You are what defines IO.

------------

Infinite Odyssey- The First is the first appearance of this game and its original universe on RPoL. It has never been played anywhere else--- not even tabletop. This is for multiple reasons. One reason is that I personally love RPoL and find it to be one of the best ways to role-play. That aside, it's an exciting chance to try Infinite Odyssey for the first time. The game is not simply titled "Infinite Odyssey" because this is only one of many games that are supposed to be played. IO is a universe that is meant to be shared and re-imagined as many times as possible. Thus, this is only the first game. I'm hoping to reflect that with the title and in other ways.

IO- The First is about a group of characters made by you, the players. They will start on a generic S.S.O.I. That is a Self-Sustaining Orbital Installation. These S.S.O.I's are giant space stations that are so large that they act as planetoids. Some can even become so large that they threaten to act as planets. Players will begin in a generic city that has an attached spaceport on one side.

From there, it's all about the players. What happens is entirely up to them. This is a free-form game focusing on the players.
