Stone is both ugly, and proud of it. Getting into his more advanced years, Randal is the epitome of the Grizzled Veteran, the stereotype people think of when they look at an enlisted man that never got out. Three marriages have been sacrificed to his career, and three children have died trying to follow behind him. This alone would make most people bitter, but Stone is so bitter on life that it could cause an ulcer.

But regardless of how scruffy or how rough the man is, he is one of the best Mechwarrior duelists in the Guard. Others might be faster, others might be better strategists, but when Randal Stone faced the Samurai of the Draconis Combine, he never lost a single duel against their one on one style.
