Dmitri Kolobov is a Toreador Russian, he was embraced a few years before the Russian Revolution. He was part of the nascent bourgeoisie, who has been defeated by the Revolution. He is a visionary director, who sees movies as a tool to describe the hidden aspects of reality and possibilities of transformation of society. In this sense, he has learned a lot from the Soviet cinema, but never shared the communist ideals, thinking that his films were rather to serve for a more liberal society. During the past 50 years he produced films for the kine world throught his ghoul, the Soviet director Aleksandr Askoldov. In 1964 the Soviet censors charged Dimitri with social parasitism and exiled him from Soviet Union. During his exile Kolobov has traveled throughout Europe. He recently established himself in France, planning to return to Russia as soon as the political situation changes. He appears as a man in his sixties, with silver hair and a bowler hat on his head. His eyes and hears seems to seek for hidden meanings, as if he were imagining any situation as a film scene that takes place in his head.
