PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
(Don't let the picture fool you...no tattoos or piercings)  Brick's street-name was well given, as he gives off the same sense of solidity.  His skin seems extra-coarse and perhaps even a little bit stiff, although it doesn't impair his movement at all.  Dark brown eyes watch the world around him carefully, beneath a shock of wiry black hair and a slightly mis-matched pair of horns that aren't actually large enough to use as much of a head-butting weapon...although his head looks hard enough that he might not need the horns.  Thick lips frame a pair of tusks, although he's learned how to speak around them so that they don't cause any significant impediment.  His neck looks kind of like a tree-trunk, and the thick skin only slightly hides the interplay of some significant musculature.  He's used to being the tallest one in the room...and even when he isn't, he manages to look like he should be.

PROFILE:
Actually, he's fairly personable, especially for someone who grew up in an environment that didn't engender trust among very many.  He's got a quick mind, and a playful sense of humor...but definitely a take-no-bullshit attitude, even when he manages to wrap it in a blanket of respect.

BACKGROUND:
His dad died when he was very young...his mother never gave him any details about it, but her sour attitude toward megacorporations gave strong hints that it was on company business...and the company never kept their end of the bargain to take care of the family if anything happened to him.  They lived in the Barrens from as far back as Brick can remember, his mother taking what work she could get to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table...but she insisted that Ben (she refused to use his street name) grew up with some sense of etiquette, and at least a passable education.  He was lucky enough to be born a troll, instead of enduring the pains of goblinization as he got older, but that also led to him leading a fairly lonely childhood...there just weren't many troll kids in the neighborhood, and most of the 'regular' kids were scared that he'd hurt them.

When he got old enough, he started taking on odd jobs of his own to help his mother, whose body was starting to fail under the strains of working to keep them housed (the pains of birthing him probably contributed somewhat to that, but she very carefully never mentioned that).  She did her best to make sure he limited his jobs to legitimate errands...but it was Seattle in the mid-21st Century.  Legitimate jobs in the Barrens were hard to come by.  Still, he chose work carefully, and was scrupulous about delivering exactly what he promised...and that built him a reputation that got him some better jobs...enough to keep them housed when his mother was finally unable to work any longer.  She died soon after, and from his mid-teens onward, Brick was on his own, although seemingly haunted by his mother's ghost in the form of an overdeveloped (for Seattle) conscience.  Still, his reputation got around, and enabled him to keep his bills paid...until an elf by the alias of Fyre Brand heard of him, and came calling...

Brick was talented, strong, and reliable, Brand told him, and could be a great help.  Brand offered to pay for some cyberware and bioware enhancements, to make Brick even more helpful...and once that process was done, Brand started using him--as muscle to help protect operations against anti-metahuman groups.  But Brand's methods were indiscriminate...as long as the majority of the dead came from Humanis Policlub or some other similar group, he didn't care who else became collateral damage.  And when Brick complained, Brand presented him with an ultimatum:  shut up and do your job, or get the enhancements 'salvaged'.  Brand never fully trusted him after that...and with good cause, because Brick agreed to 'play nice' until the opportunity came along to eliminate Brand and free himself of the obligation.

Before that opportunity presented itself, he and Brand were attacked at Brand's office, by other people Brand had hired, who were obviously under some kind of external control (probably magical, but Brick knows diddly about magic, so it could have been something else...it just seemed magical to him).  Brand's bodyguard and one of the bartenders landed hits on Brick before they died...but the other bartender--the one wearing a suicide vest with a deadman switch--literally blew up in his face...and he woke up somewhere he never imagined existed...

IMPORTANT NOTES:
Orthoskin, so his sense of feel is a little impaired.  Symbiotes boost his healing, and he had a digestive modification done so he can literally eat pretty much anything his teeth can crush.  And wired reflexes that he can ramp up to different speeds as needed, or switch off when not needed.
