Samoset Abooksigun

Name: Samoset Abooksigun
(Roughly translates to "Far Walking Wildcat")

Age: 20

Gender:  Male

Description:  A young Mi'Kmac hunter, he is clad in simple buckskins and supple moccasins.  He wears a great robe of cured bearskin.  He is armed with a bow and a quiver of arrows, a spear, and a long knife.

He is lean and wiry, with the supple build of a hunting cat,  His movements are quick and certain, and he moves quietly enough to seem almost magical.  His hair is long and glossy black, it reaches the middle of his back and is tied into a queue with a strip of leather.  His eyes are a warm brown and extremely alert.

Distinguishing Marks:  Samoset has extensive scarring of his upper body, particularly the left shoulder and torso.  The scars are from the bear that attacked him when he was younger.

Personality:  Although he seems to those who don't know him as an aloof loner, he is actually rather shy and insatiably curious. He is happy to learn new things or to share his knowledge with sincere students.

He is a peaceful sort and has never been in a real fight, much less killed another.  If he were put in such a situation, though, it is likely that he'd be as dangerous as a cornered wildcat.

Skills/Traits:  Samoset is an expert hunter and woodsman.  He is known amongst his people for his expertise with the weapons of a hunter and his skill at stealth.  Though he has no real training in the war arts, he is quick and skilled with knife and spear as well as the wrestling style of his people.

He is an expert at woodland survival, herbalism, and navigation.

He is a skilled swimmer, a quick, nearly tireless runner, and quite good at climbing.

History:  Born to the Kiltivatè tribe, it was obvious from childhood that he had the spirit of a hunter, and not of a farmer.  As he grew older, he took to the teachings of the elders like a duck to water.  He spent a part of his time playing with his peers.  Wrestling, racing, swimming.  But his true fascination was always the wild.  He spent hours, more and more each day as he grew to manhood, alone.  Studying tracks and spoors.  Learning the plants, which could be eaten, which could be used for medicine, which were poisonous.

He became a man before any other boy of his tribe.  Slaying a moose with the swift, sure thrust of his spear.  Even as his tribe gathered to celebrate his accomplishment, he was off on his own.  He returned three moons later.  Scarred and battered, bearing the skin, claws and teeth of a great black bear.

He remained home until he had recovered his strength, and then disappeared again.  This became the theme of his life.  He would live among his people for a time, but always returned to his solitary wandering.  He came to be considered spirit-touched, searching for something that no one could quite define.

Samoset has recently become intrigued by Fortuna and it's inhabitants.  After hearing about them and their taking of Kiltivatè land, he had been taught they were monstrous conquerors.  His studying the lives of those who live and work outside the walls have led him to believe otherwise.

Recently, he has allowed some of those he watches, less than a handfull, to become aware of him.  Only glimpses, seen from a distance that seems safe.  He has yet to approach or be approached by anyone.
