Anaru 'Andrew' Wilson

Name: Anaru 'Andrew' Wilson

Age: 31

Gender: Male

Personality: Is personable enough when he has to be, mostly working as a wilderness guide,
but even when he is out in the middle of nowhere with a group of 10 or so, he still tends
to himself.  It is not so much that he is a loner as it is he is always listening for attacks from the indigenous wildlife.

Skills:  Hunting, Tracking, and all things related to the wilderness

Fears:  Anaru has a strong case of claustrophobia, leading to him needing to take medication if he knows he is going to be in an enclosed area for a while.  The smaller the area, the faster the panic comes on.  He also has a fear of open water, as his father was killed on a boat headed from Australia back to New Zealand.

Background:

Anaru was raised on New Zealand, hailing from a Maori mother and an Australian father.  Growing up, he had the stature of the Maori.  He was thick, with black hair and dark brown eyes.  His father passed when he was a teenager, and to cope with the loss, Anaru started delving deep into his Maori roots.

He learned orienteering at a young age, and had a knack with a map and compass.  It did not translate terribly well to the water, but as long as he was on solid land, he could find and do anything he wanted.  He dropped out of high school right before graduating, preferring to help his mother with the house and bills.  After 5 years, she had gone through most of the insurance money that was left from his father's death.

Tourism was a big thing in the town he lived in, and would help the local Maori with their long range camping trips, as well as performed in their Haka.  He found that the orienteering and camping trips were is favorite and he would find himself only being home one to two days a month, then less than a week a year as he became more proficient.

When he turned twenty five, a group of men who had been on one of his trips, started asking that he would guide them through other wildernesses.  That started what would become a lucrative career akin to something like Bear Gryllis.
