Darzi Singh

Name: Darzi Singh

Age: 26

Gender: Female

Personality: Darzi is distant, both from her mental acuity brought on by a lifetime of meditation, and her difficulty in finding trust in other human beings. This quietness is often mistaken for aloofness and a general lack of caring, but Darzi can be open and friendly with the very few people she elects to trust. Often she finds herself lost in her own little dream world; a habit from her isolation in Big Sur during her growing up years. Darzi is never satisfied living in one place. Where ever she is, she imagines being somewhere else.

Skills: Yoga, Meditation, Hiking, Camping. Darzi is not a survivalist, but she has spent more time out doors than in. Swimming. Darzi is a strong swimmer and has spent countless hours in the Pacific ocean.

Fears:  Lies. Living in an illusion.

Background: Darzi grew up in the hippy wilds of Big Sur, California , where she was raised on a steady diet of granola and regular yoga practice.  Her paternal grandfather had immigrated to the states during the early seventies to take advantage of the New Age boom, and the family did quite well offering the tourists and seekers a taste of "enlightenment" through the practice of yoga in exchange for their money.
Darzi was  home schooled, and her contact with the outside world was limited  to the stories she heard from the travelers and seekers who attended her grandfather's ashram.  She was curious, but for the most part she remained happy to live at the retreat and spend her life practicing yoga. This all changed when she turned seventeen, and her grandfather was accused of being a conman. The arrest of her grandfather for bilking a senator's daughter out of her college fund , and the subsequent newspaper investigation revealing a series of shady business practices, left her questioning whether or not any of the teachings she had grown up on were legitimate.

She acted out by running away and spending a year on the beach just above Los Angeles. In time, she found herself and returned home to find the family gone. Their assets had been seized in the case against her grandfather, and her family had moved to San Francisco to work with a relative who owned a restaurant.
Darzi hitchhiked back down the coast and wound up settling in San Diego where she began a regular yoga business. She lived frugally out of habit, and always with the desire to see more of the world implanted in her by the year she spent on the beaches. Never one to wait, Darzi booked her flight to Bermuda with just enough money to spare. There would be tourists there, and she could always offer yoga lessons for some extra cash.
