There are three things all wise men fear: the sea in storm, a night with no moon, and the anger of a gentle man.

Hyung-Soo is a tall, broad shouldered, rough cut human with weathered skin and calm eyes. He has the sunburnt and leathery look of a physical laborer, crinkled lines radiate out from the corners of his constantly squinting eyes, and his hands are cracked and calloused. Thick necked and long of arm, he seems somehow ill at ease in his battered armor. He looks like a humble peasant stuffed like a sausage into a situation far beyond his ken.

His demeanor does little to dissuade this impression. He is a quiet, gentle, reserved man of rough stock but polite manner. It's clear by his accent and mien that he is from no noble house and seems more at home bending over a rice field than sitting in polite company. He's hard working and simple, with a practical world view and little interest in the great events of the kingdom.

His equipment is very simple and professional. High quality but with no ornamentation, well cared for but definitely second hand. He wears a notched and battered set of armor with the insignia scratched off the breast and fights most commonly with the weapons of peasant infantry, the spear, the axe, and the iron shod club. He also has a long anti-cavalry sword that he rarely uses but which seems far nicer than the rest of his gear.

He has an ugly purple scar circling his throat, those with wisdom in the healing arts would recognize it as a rope scar from having once been hung.
