Courtney Holmes is the daughter of Rev. Ted Holmes, a millionaire televangelist.
He and his wife wanted their daughter to live up to the family image they projected, but she had other ideas.
When she was 8, her parents bought her a pony, just what any little girl would want. Within a week, she'd broken her leg trying the teach herself stunt riding.
When she was 12, they took her to the country club, hoping to have her mix with the right company. They ended up having to drag her away from the skeet shooting range.

She seemed determined to chafe at the image of femininity in a world where conservative gender roles were held sacred. It was only her athletic prowess and the fact that her father was on the board of governors that kept her in the private Christian school she attended.

She just about managed to put up with it, but was making plans to get out of that life years before she graduated. Rather than be sent to a Christian university and occasionally trotted out as a tool for her father's ministry (which, she suspected, was just a money-making scheme), she's enlisted in the army, heading off to basic almost straight out of highschool.
