Occupation:  Housekeeper for a Doctor that works at an Infirmary in a Workhouse.

Physical Description:  5’6”. She has a slim build thanks to the fashions of the day and the fact she works hard. Her hair is long and dark brown.  She possesses a pretty and friendly face.

Distinguishing Features:  Her lips are a natural deep red, which can be mistaken for rogue, but is in fact a lucky chance of breeding.  Her eyes are a captivating hazel, starting off deep brown around the pupil and fading to an almost brilliant green.
Personality Description:  She is hard working and friendly to all.  She supports her employer in his endeavours at the workhouse as best she can.  She tends to have a ‘bleeding heart’ and will help anyone out if they need her. This tends to lead to certain people taking advantage of her kind nature.  She can be shy at first, but once a person has befriended her they will find in her a friend for life.

Characters History:  Adaline was born in Maidstone, Kent.  Both her parents were in the brewing industry and she spent many summers picking hops with her mother and father to send to the brewery to be made in to ale.

Adaline is the only surviving child of the Snipes.  Her mother had 7 more children after Adaline was born, but sadly they did not live to see their first birthdays.  The 8th child took her mother with her and Adaline was left with her father in their tiny cottage in Kent.

At 17 they agreed it would be best for her to become a domestic servant and so she worked from house to house, picking up the knowledge of being a maid until the good Doctor Sutton advertised for a Housekeeper and employed Adaline.

Adaline’s employer, Doctor Sutton, works for the infirmary in one of the workhouses in London.  She moved to London to join the Doctor at his home and soon realized that the unmarried Doctor needed more than a Housekeeper, he needed a housemaid and a cook.
It was not quite what the young Adaline had imagined when she moved to the sprawling city of London, and yet his good nature and gentle temperament made her decide to stay on in his service, though the hours she works are exhausting.
The work he does at the workhouse is admirable and so she loyally remains his housekeeper to make sure that after his long days at work he at least has a clean house and a good meal awaiting him on his return.

Goals:  To see the Doctor married (hopefully into money) so that Adaline might have less duties to see to.

Likes:  Music (especially piano) and being read to (especially poetry).  (She can read, the problem is if she picks a book up to read she falls asleep from exhaustion!)

Dislikes:  Dirty hands and rude people.
