Martian Connection

It is the year 1889--the height of the Victorian Era. European countries have been expanding around the world in search of new resources and new markets for their industrial products. Africa is still mostly undiscovered territory, and Great Britain, Germany, Belgium, France and Italy have significant colonies on the Dark Continent, and are often in contention for specific regions.

Great Britain and Russia, and to a lesser extent, Germany, play 'The Great Game'--political manipulation and sparring for control of Asia.

In the midst of the Industrial Revolution, the invention of the Ether Flyer has even taken the Victorians and the Great Game to the challenges of Mars and Venus. Science is on a rampage, with new discoveries and inventions occurring nearly every month. Devices are often run on steam, though, and even those that run on electricity get that electricity through steam engines.

It is a time of Adventurers--men (and occasionally women) pitting their intelligence, skill and perseverance against the dark and unexplored unknown, trying to make a name for themselves for God and country. Or gain fabulous wealth.


This game uses a slightly modified version of Space: 1889--more emphasis on the d6 system. You could reasonably consider it Space: 1889.5--Turn of the Century.
