Helena has short black curly hair, dark brown eyes in an almond shape and light brown skin. Has burn scars on her upper back and on her right shoulder. Has two scars from knife cuts on the top of left thigh. Helena is athletic, and has a slightly toned body.



Personality:

Helena is an independent person and mostly solitary. She teaches at a local high school, and is looked at as a decent, strict teacher. Pretty sarcastic, sometimes sassy, she aims to help and bring out the best in others. Easily annoyed and quick to anger, she meditates several times a day to control her anger.

Powers:

Helena has superior strength, speed, and senses. She has a special ability to drink from other preternatural creatures and temporarily use their powers (for about five minutes). She can also shadow walk (use shadows to hide her presence, rendering her near invisible for up to two minutes). Due to the survival of her kind, she is able to perform compulsion, which makes a subject forget their memories of the past five to ten minutes. Decreased ageing.

Weaknesses:

Needs to feed and drink at least five pints of blood each week to stay sane and healthy. Sunlight doesn’t burn her, but it does impair her vision easily (needs really dark sunglasses outside). Pure silver, will paralyze and/or burn her. Garlic does cause an allergic reaction, but nothing so severe (just runny nose, itchy eyes, and hives). Can eat normal food, but will vomit it all up within an hour of eating it, since she gains no nourishment from it (luckily, she can still drink most liquids like water, coffee, alcohol, and wine with little effect).

Background:

Helena was turned into a vampire when she was 21, and still appears to be that age, despite 10 years passing. Raised by her mother and step-father—who both disliked Helena due to her circumstances (father abandoned mom, mom blames Helena) —Helena was neglected as a child. They did give her basic care, but isolated her from the rest of the family.

Helena’s burn scars are from when her mother “accidentally” dropped boiling water on her while she was sitting at the family dining table when she was 15. Helena’s scars on her thigh were self-inflicted during a time shortly after that. She stopped the habit though when a teacher noticed her strange behavior and sought counseling for her. It may be one of the reasons that really stuck with her, on why she decided to become a teacher herself.

During her last year of college, Helena was turned into a vampire by a stranger. She can’t recall if they were a woman or man, only that it happened during an evening jog. She recalls waking up in a field, feeling sore everywhere and extremely thirsty. Over the next 24 hours, she destroyed her kitchen, and nearly went choked a clerk at a convenience store. It wasn’t until she saw a neighbor cut her finger while gardening outside her home, when she realized blood was the only thing that would quench her thirst.
