When one reads Gothique's record one would immediately become suspicious.  First off there is no name other than first name mentioned.  Anyone reading the MDK will find that is all it lists.  No mention of why, how or what.  And if you ever meet her it is a bit more of a mystery as she presents as not even wanting to hurt a fly.  Maybe multiple personalities?

Oh and there is a reward for her only if returned alive.
