Carpe Noctem

Game Name: Carpe Noctem

Setting: Shadowrun 5th Edition

Timing: December 2074. While this is somewhat dated given the current in-game date of 2080, it made more sense when the game started 3.5 years ago. We made about 2.5 weeks of IC progress during that time.

Power Level: Prime Runner. Danger will be omnipresent.

Tone: Black trenchcoat, grim and gritty. I’m not trying to kill you, but I’m not trying to save you either. There will be Adult themes, mostly related to violence.

Brief Description: This is Chapter III in a wide-ranging campaign which started in Seattle. The next step will be to stomp through the jungles of Aztlan to pay an unannounced visit to a Mayan temple. Knowledge of previous chapters is not expected; if relevant, it will be shared ICly. Characters do not have to be tailored for a specific environment as any and all environments are possible in future chapters. Stealth is a must, but being able to fight your way out of a bad situation is also advisable.

Additional Background: My character was a PC in Chapters I and II. The GM disappeared unexpected, so I will be picking up the GM mantle at the beginning of Chapter III. My PC will be your Johnson for IC reasons. The Johnson will be looking to hire a team of professionals and mercenaries, not psychos or snowflakes. He will be looking for a team that has worked together before. You don't have to be best friends with your teammates but there will be an expectation of cooperation and mutual self-interest. Your team would be hired out of Seattle, responding to - and therefore presumably comfortable with - a high-risk mission to the jungles of Aztlan.

The Goal: My goal is to finish this story arc, which will last until at least Chapter IV or Chapter V. Given the nature of play-by-post this could take a year or more so I'd prefer players who are comfortable making a long-term commitment. After the completion of this campaign we can discuss transitioning the game into more of an open-world sandbox game if people are interested in continuing.
