By Design has been running since May 2008 and has moved from the fallout from Ambers defeat in the PatternFall War to the creation of Fenneval, Corwins Pattern, the Void created by Brand and Halcyon which rose from the ruin of Rebma.Now there is a new king in Chaos after the murder of Swayvill...what will this mean for the future of Shadow?

The Patternfall War
(Amber's perspective....)
The Black Road stopped at the foot of Kolvir, Shadow was in turmoil as Chaos forged forward using the black road as a conduit to attack or subjugate all along its path - a path that stretched all the way from Chaos. Unbeknownst to many, the Pattern was damaged by Brand after stabbing Martin as he stood in the centre of the Primal Pattern. Oberon returned and once again swept the family into turmoil as he took control of Amber and with Benedict and a number of the other Elders, hatched a plan to attack Chaos. The sons and daughters of Amber gathered at the staging area in preparation little knowing that they would face the worst possible outcome - defeat at the hands of the Chaos Legion.

Saved only by the Jewel wielded by Corwin allowing a remnant of a remnant of the Amberite forces to survive, the family beat a hasty retreat. Amber had survived and would fight another day.

The Present
The damage to the Pattern continues to reverberate around the Golden Circle and beyond. Begma is known to have fallen to a terrible tsunami. Kashfa was all but destroyed in a Chaosian attack. With fewer of the family left to keep trading routes open and protect the city, what hope to rebuild?
