Jewel was named as she was just that the jewel of her fathers eye....and Kingdom.  Sadly that Kingdom was not to last.  An orc raid came through and finished off every elf that lived there save those that escaped or were away.  Jewel's father bade the house maid take Jewel and the Vizier opened a portal to another part of the world....far away from and Orc Armies.

It was sheer luck they wound up in an oriental land.  That is where she learned her art of performance.  Both on and off the field.  When she mastered it she adventured on her own for a while until she was called away to help.
