Nwofia Barandi is from the dark and nameless lands beyond the great desert.  She grew up in Agisymba around the Lake of the Hippopotamus but her people were of the tribes far to the South and West of Agisymba.

She has an exotic look: with her skin so dark that it is almost blue; with her head kept shaven; with lines of white dots and stars tattooed on her skin, along her arms and legs, on the upper surface of her breasts, spiraling upward around her neck to the base of her skull, and where her eyebrows grow should she forget to shave them.

She is an acrobat and (although she has no magic) she also calls herself a 'magician' but her 'magic' is all sleight of hand, making things, and people if she has time to train them, disappear and even, at the end of her show, wrapping her silken cloak around her and then disappearing in a puff of smoke herself.

Her name in her language means literally 'conceived outside the tribe' or 'born in the wild' and 'to surprise or shock'.  Given the different culture that raised her, perhaps a better translation would be 'Damned Bastard'.  Nevertheless, she wears it with pride.
